TRAVELING / ITINERATE MINISTRY

Larry, a 1989 graduate of RHEMA Bible Training Center, and Yolanda a 1991 graduate, have been traveling from coast to coast in the U.S.A. and around the world since 1994. Larry has been able to utilize his 5 years experience of conducting inter-denominational chapel services for the U.S. Naval Reserves (1989-1994) to go into a diversity of church denominations and bring God ïs holy word in way that all can receive. Larry is an ex- U.S. Naval officer of 10 years and a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where he met Yolanda while she was attending Louisiana State University. They have been married since Dec.1983 and have 3 daughters who were born in 1985, 1987, and 1989. They have also raised Yolanda�s nephew since he was almost 14. He is now a Bible school graduate of RHEMA also.

THE NAME TURNING POINT MINISTRY

When the Lord told Larry to name the ministry "Turning Point", he said He would confirm that name with signs following. Many people have noted a turning point in their lives and or ministries as a result of how God uses Larry and Yolanda in this ministry.

MOTTO

The theme or motto of Turning Point Ministries is "turning the world to the cross".  This means leading the lost to Christ. He also encourages the believer to daily take up their cross. Since the very outset of Larry's spirit filled walk with the lord in 1979, the gift to encourage/exhort others to come to the Lord, or make a total surrender of their lives, and the ability to encourage others (Romans 12:8) has been very evident. Zeal / fire for the Lord is intensified in the lives of believers through their ministry.

MANDATE & MISSION

The mandate and mission of Turning Point Ministries (a.k.a. Larry Brown Ministries) is three-fold.
It is to:

1. To preach Christ to the lost
2. Minister Comfort to the body of Christ
3. Establish Godly Character in God's people

They call it the 3 C Mandate:

• CHRIST - The mandate to minister Christ was given to Larry in 1991 when the Lord began to lead Larry into evangelistic ministry. For Larry and Yolanda ministering Christ is ministering the saving, healing, and delivering power of Jesus Christ and the baptism of Holy Spirit.
  
  Highlights have included:

• Seeing as many 100 to 150 people receive Jesus through astreet meeting in Sierra Leone, West Africa
• Seeing over 340 decisions for Christ by the young people at a treatment center for troubled youth in Tulsa, OK over a 2 year period through a monthly outreach
• Helping a church grow from 35 to 80 people through evangelistic work in less than 4 weeks in Illinois
• Seeing over a 1,000 people baptized in the Holy Ghost in a crusade in India
• Seeing atleast 250 young people baptized in the Holy spirit in West Africa
• Seeing an entire church in Haiti get baptized in the Holy Spirit
• Seeing anywhere from half to entire denominational churches baptized in the Holy Spirit
• He has also seen numerous people delivered from demon bondage, and various sicknesses and diseases.

• COMFORT - The mandate to minister Comfort was given to Larry in 1985. It is Isaiah 40:1which reads Comfort, comfort my people, says God (NIV). The Bible says we can comfort others with the same comfort that we have been comforted with (2 Cor. 1:3-4). In the early years of Larry's life in elementary school, he suffered terrible abuse, molestation and pain emotionally and mentally. A terrible spirit of fear tormented him for years. After his deliverance and strengthening by the Lord, God called him to minister to others that have suffered the same affects from the evil one. The healing power of Jesus, The Healer flows out of the compassion that Christ has given Larry for those bruised and crushed, mentally and emotionally. Coupled with his wife Yolanda's gift of mercy (Romans 12:8) their ministry has served to bring comfort to the body of Christ in a diversity of ways. The other motto of their ministry is Turning people from crisis to Christ. Great peace is ministered in great power as the Lord uses these vessels in ministry.
  
  
• CHARACTER - The mandate to minister Character was given to Larry in 1987 while he was attending Bible school in Oklahoma. Although Larry and Yolanda were known as people of godly character and conduct, God challenged them to let Him mature and develop them even more in this area. God dealt with Larry deeply about developing much more in godly character so that he could teach others to develop in this area as well. Although He is a University graduate, former U.S. Naval officer, and a seasoned minister, he humbly submitted himself to God and served as a church housekeeper for 10 years. During this process God was carefully developing character in this man for future leadership and ministry. Larry was building his house on the  Rock (Matt. 7:24-27) and letting the Lord build the house of his life and ministry (Psalm 127:1). Yolanda never wavered during this time and fully supported Larry in his obedience to the Lord as he humbly served in housekeeping. Even today as Larry many times must travel alone, while Yolanda is home with the children, she steadfastly supports the call on of God on Larry to go! Established in Godly character, Larry now teaches others to become established in every good word and work.(2 Thes. 2:17). In accordance with Ephesians 4:11-13, Larry and Yolanda endeavor to do their part...to prepare God's people for the works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Through services, training seminars, Bible schools and more, they do their part to equip believers.

  Larry graduated from Bible school in 1989 with a foreign mission ministry emphasis. Larry has traveled to several foreign countries on short-term mission trips. Thus far the countries have included:

• ORPHANAGES
  In 1998 Larry and Yolanda became involved with a children�s home in India that Larry visited. They actively find sponsors for the children as they minister through out the U.S.

• VOCALIST / PSALMIST
  Larry also ministers in song. Due to his diverse Christian background, he ministers in song in a variety of styles. He also ministers prophetically in song as well. Their three daughters sometime travel with them and use their singing gifts to bless others.
